A large-scale explosion has been recorded in Russia’s Belgorod region, following which a mushroom-shaped column of smoke rose into the sky, visible from all points of the regional center.

The publication “Nastoyashchee Vremya,” citing local public pages, reports that large plumes of black smoke are rising from various parts of a forest area near the village of Novosadovy and the village of Belovskoye, where ammunition depots are located.

The footage published online clearly shows the consequences of the emergency – at least four separate sources of dense black smoke are observed in the sky over the Belgorod district.

The Russian Telegram channel “Pepel Belgorod” clarified that the large-scale explosion in the region is not related to another irregular fall of a Russian FAB aerial bomb. The main cause of the incident is the strike on ammunition depots, where active secondary detonation is currently ongoing.

Official representatives of the local authorities, led by the governor, are traditionally silent about the causes and scale of the destruction of military infrastructure.

At the same time, pro-Kremlin Z-channels and Russian war correspondents have begun to widely spread the version that the detonation occurred due to gross violations of safety rules during the handling of ammunition.

The situation was analyzed by the Ukrainian OSINT channel Exilenova, noting that there is currently no precise information regarding missile or drone strikes. However, analysts emphasize that since there is no footage of the direct moment of the explosion near the object itself available online, this indicates that the epicenter is located in a place inaccessible to prying eyes.

Experts suggest that the explosion occurred in the area of the so-called Belovskoye forest, which remained an ordinary civilian green zone until 2023, but was later transformed by the Russian military into a restricted facility with hidden infrastructure.
