A report for return can be submitted up to and including September 20, 2026. Servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard of Ukraine, and the State Special Transport Service, who were recorded as AWOL up to and including June 12, 2026, can take advantage of the simplified program.

The Ministry of Defense has expanded the number of units to provide more opportunities: to serve in a desired field, choose a desired position and commander, and utilize previous experience.
“Drivers, UAV operators, clerks, riflemen – the army needs everyone. Over 70 of the most effective units are ready to accept servicemen after AWOL into their ranks and give them a chance to return to the fight through a simplified system with full support throughout the entire process,” noted Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Mstyslav Banik.
The program, launched in June, allows individuals to choose a new military unit from a specified list, indicate their desired service direction and previous experience, receive support from the contact center, and report directly to the new unit – bypassing the Military Law Enforcement and reserve battalions.
The list of units to which one can return after AWOL includes mechanized, assault, airborne, drone, artillery, and other units. Each of these units requires servicemen with various experiences, military specialties, and skills.
A complete list of brigades accepting servicemen after AWOL can be viewed on the official program website, as well as when submitting a report in the “Army+” application.
After submitting the report, recruiters consider the serviceman’s previous experience, skills, desired service direction, and the needs of the selected military unit. This helps determine where their experience will be most valuable.
However, the number of positions in certain areas is limited, so those who have already decided on a unit, service direction, and desired position should not delay in submitting their report.
To return from AWOL, a serviceman can independently select a new military unit from a list of over 70 units – within their structure; indicate the desired service direction, previous experience, and skills; and report directly to the new military unit without going through military law enforcement or reserve battalions. Upon enrollment, the serviceman will have their financial, food, and other provisions restored, and will receive support from the contact center at number 1519 at all stages.
Furthermore, for six months after enrollment, the serviceman cannot be transferred to another military unit without their written consent.
A report can be submitted via the Army+ application; directly to the military unit (for servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the State Special Transport Service); or through the 1st or 2nd recruitment centers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (for servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine).

As Ukrinform reported, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine defined the procedure for maintaining the Unified State Register of Conscripts, Military-Reservists, and Reservists “Oberih”.
