Many people dream of turning their balcony or terrace into a cozy green corner where they can relax with a cup of coffee and enjoy the beauty of flowers. However, not everyone is willing to spend a lot of time caring for plants. Fortunately, there are flowers that can bloom profusely all summer long and do not require special care or expensive fertilizers. One of these plants is bacopa – a true star for landscaping.

What are the advantages of bacopa

Bacopa, or Sutera, belongs to ampelous plants. Its long shoots hang beautifully from pots and are literally covered with hundreds of small flowers.

Depending on the variety, the flowers can be white, pink, lilac, or soft blue. Thanks to its abundant flowering, bacopa creates the effect of a real floral waterfall that adorns the balcony from late spring until the first autumn frosts.

This plant is especially valued for the fact that even beginners can easily grow it without complex care.

Where is the best place to put bacopa

For lush flowering, bacopa needs plenty of light, but it does not tolerate direct midday sun very well.

The plant feels best on eastern or western balconies, where it receives moderate morning or evening sunlight. If the balcony faces south, it is advisable to provide light shading during the hottest hours of the day.

In such conditions, bacopa forms dense shoots and continuously forms new buds.

The main secret of care is proper watering

Despite its unpretentiousness, bacopa has one important requirement: it does not like the soil to dry out.

On hot summer days, the plant may need to be watered daily, especially if it grows in hanging baskets or small containers.

At the same time, excess moisture is also undesirable. To avoid water stagnation around the roots, loose soil and pots with drainage holes should be used. The ideal option is to keep the soil slightly moist, but not wet.

What to feed the flower for abundant flowering

To ensure that bacopa continuously forms new buds, it should be regularly fertilized. Liquid fertilizers for flowering plants are best suited. They are applied approximately once every 7-10 days according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Thanks to such fertilization, the plant remains lush and blooms until autumn.

Another advantage of bacopa is that it hardly needs dead flowers removed. Unlike many other ornamental plants, dried flowers usually fall off on their own. This greatly simplifies care and makes bacopa an ideal choice for busy people.

If necessary, you can occasionally trim overly long shoots to keep the bush dense and tidy.

What flowers does bacopa combine with

Bacopa feels great in tandem with petunias, surfinia, verbena, and geraniums. Bright flowers create colorful accents, while delicate bacopa adds lightness and harmony. That is why landscape designers often use it for landscaping balconies and terraces.
