The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine commented on the information about the visit of Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich to Kyiv, emphasizing that the Ukrainian authorities are ready to use any opportunities to bring closer a just peace.
This was stated by MFA spokesperson Georgiy Tikhiy during a briefing.
According to him, one should not make assumptions or look for hidden motives in contacts that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has already commented on.
“The President of Ukraine uses every, even the smallest, opportunity to bring peace closer. This is the correct and exhaustive assessment of this contact,” Tikhiy noted.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recalled that the head of state has already explained the circumstances and purpose of the meeting with Abramovich, so there are no additional political comments on this matter at the moment.
How Abramovich Got to Kyiv
At the same time, journalists asked how the Russian businessman managed to get to the Ukrainian capital under conditions of closed airspace and martial law.
Answering the question, Georgiy Tikhiy did not disclose details of the trip’s organization but joked about the oligarch’s mode of transport.
“Regarding the specific details of the organization of Abramovich’s visit, I will not surprise you with anything interesting. It can be safely said that he did not fly by plane, obviously,” said the MFA spokesperson.
The travel route and other details of Roman Abramovich’s stay in Ukraine are not officially disclosed.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that he had met with the Russian billionaire, explaining such contacts by searching for opportunities to achieve peace and resolve humanitarian issues during the war.
