Ukraine is working on developing inexpensive missiles to intercept Russian Shahed drones, as per the President’s directive, with some solutions already undergoing testing.

Ukraine to Produce Cheap Missiles for Intercepting Shaheds — Fedorov
This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Mykhailo Fedorov, during a media briefing.
As per the President’s directive, our focus is currently on creating cost-effective missiles to neutralize Shahed drones. We have already identified solutions that are close to completion and have commenced their evaluation.

According to Fedorov, Ukraine intends to scale up the production of these missiles significantly and build up a sufficient supply in anticipation of the autumn-winter period.
Our objective is to increase production by tenfold and accumulate a reserve of such missiles for the autumn-winter season. We aim to scale up and reduce the cost of interceptor missiles to prepare for the emergence of jet-powered Shaheds.

He informed that the new interceptor missiles are expected to bolster the defense of critical infrastructure, complementing the use of interceptor drones. He emphasized that the state is providing grants, expanding production, and relaunching team recruitment to facilitate this initiative.
