The Oleksandrivskyi sector of the front became the scene of active offensive operations by Ukrainian paratroopers today. Despite fierce resistance and an eightfold advantage of the occupiers in manpower, the soldiers of the 82nd Separate Air Assault Bukovinian Brigade are, step by step, pushing the enemy out of eastern Zaporizhzhia and southeastern Dnipropetrovsk regions towards Donetsk.
TSN correspondent Oleksandr Motornyi witnessed how the “eyes and stingers” of our paratroopers – strike drone operators – operate.
War in Ukraine: what is happening on the front
According to the commander of the unmanned systems battalion with the call sign “Fizruk,” the intensity of battles in the sector reaches 7-8 points on a ten-point scale. The main task now is not only to repel the enemy but also to destroy “infiltration” groups attempting to remain in the rear of our assault troops.
“Fizruk,” Commander of the UAV Battalion, 82nd Separate Air Assault Brigade: “We’ve given them a good hard time! We stopped their plans and eliminated all infiltration. Due to the high pace of our attacks, the enemy sometimes found themselves behind us, as the assault groups simply didn’t have time to clear every house. There was an incident: my ‘bombers’ were in a village, and on the next street, Russians emerged, waving a flag – they thought it was their ‘Mavic’ flying in.”
The occupiers have almost stopped bringing heavy armor to the front lines. Instead of tanks, they now use ATVs, motorcycles, and even homemade “convertibles.” However, for the 82nd Brigade’s FPV drones, these are easy prey.
The soldiers report that the enemy attempts to move in columns (“in a train”), but after the very first accurate “optical” hit, prepared assault troops turn into ordinary fugitives.
Military personnel described enemy assaults
The enemy’s numerical advantage is keenly felt, but the paratroopers compensate with quality and coordination. Even smaller Ukrainian assault groups manage to capture Russians, whose “strongholds” turn out to be significantly more accommodating than expected.
“Fizruk”: “The numerical superiority is noticeable. In the strip we occupied, the enemy forces were clearly more numerous than our units. But they were destroyed. For today, my battalion has already eliminated up to 109 occupiers. And this is only the second half of the day; the day is not over yet!”
Battles for Novohryhorivka and Uspenivka are ongoing. Ukrainian paratroopers continue their advance, proving that the enemy will not be allowed to operate freely at the junction of the three regions.
